ublicans are not evil! Regular readers of “Swerve” may question my sanity because that expression but I guarantee you I have not lost my idea! Don’t obtain me erroneous, I’m not attempting to do a fluff piece almost the GOP. You'll see that presently ample. I’m a lifelong Democrat. In my teens I was a democrat because my parents, well, ALL the adults in my kin, were Democrats so I barely knew anything else. As an adult, I’ve been proficient to evaluate the parties on their merit and I remained a Democrat because the Philosophy of the celebration resonates with my core values. But, I don’t hate Republicans because I’m a Democrat. I simply disagree with what they stand because.
At its kernel, Republican political philosophy is not evil, yet over the last few decades it has been slowly and methodically hijacked by people who are! Republicans have had a long history of great leadership starting in the founding stages of our Republic including such luminaries as Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, Calvin Coolidge and Dwight Eisenhower. Each had amazing governments that have had lasting impacts that survive today!
My disagreement is with Republican Core Values. Republican Philosophy is founded aboard the majesty of the individual, the autonomy of the citizenry,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], chance, emancipation from encumbrance, survival of the fittest and resistance to government interference in the lives of the people. These philosophies are not evil,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], many of them even draw above inspiration from Biblical principles. But they have a down side.
William Howard Taft, for example, was Republican, but had a lasting impact on commerce for his against to the growth of monopolies. That could well be thought government interference in the marketplace but Taft was able to see that allowing monopolies to flourish was bad for a crowd of Americans, so he disapproved them. However, monopolies are a normal progression of a free mart and are a nice dialectic in like of market norm. We’re seeing a resurgence of it immediately, especially in the medium. Monopolies are unjust commerce practices because they artificially control amounts and making and it is that control that arbitrarily limits opportunity.
Something has happened to the Republican Party over its history and it’s NOT a good thing. I sense that the corner for the worst began approximately the Reagan Administration’s union busting and acquired momentum beneath the congressional leadership of Newt Gingrich and his “Contract with America”. This alteration in the moral role of the Republican Party whistled semaphored an open door plan for the inspire of Christian Churches as voting blocks and Christian Morality as a political platform.
It also ushered in a new resistance to government regulation and the new Republican Mantra that Big Government is the problem rather than the solution to our problems. Against that philosophy comes the Republican peppery clasp issues of Abortion, Gay Rights, necrosis with self-respect and Prayer in Schools. These issues occasion my brain to whirl about the Republican Philosophy. Should the Government tread into the lives of the citizens or shouldn’t it? Do Republicans ambition a government that is small enough to eligible into a citizen’s bedroom window or schoolroom? It doesn’t make much sense to me. If you stand for Freedom, stand for freedom and stop parsing which freedoms you favor and which ones you don’t.
Under this relatively new incarnation, the Republican Party has devolved into a kind of fascio-Democracy. “You are free to do as I please!”
