The Best Three Mlb Hitters of All Time
When thinking the greatest hitters in baseball history there are a few criteria namely must be taken into consideration. The first criteria namely pinnacle extravaganza. The second criteria is career rendition. How long was a hitter magnificent? And the third criteria is epoch. When taking into account each of these criteria I've come up with the following list of the 3 greatest hitters in the history of important league baseball.
It is important to memorandum while perusing this that I am no considering defensive capability when compiling this list. It's completely almost hitting. I'm likewise not going apt give a actor extra honor as a hitter because they are a shortstop instead of a left fielder. I accomplish that when considering "replacement amount" a great kicking shortstop tin be more invaluable than one even greater kicking left fielder but that's beyond the range of this story.
#1 Barry Bonds - Certainly this ambition be a polemical pick, but it's also the apparent alternative. Barry Bonds is,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], in truth, the greatest hitter who has ever played the game of baseball. His major championship is Ted Williams and Babe Ruth who I believe should either be somewhat marked down due to inferior emulation, but even without such a brand down, Barry Bonds dominates when talking about best peak performance.
Based on OPS+, Bonds had the three greatest seasons in baseball history (2002, 2004, & 2001 - in that mandate.) Babe Ruth had the afterward best 3 seasons and Ted Williams the next best 2 seasons. Incredibly it's then Bonds by #9 (2003) and Ruth again by #10 and #11. What's that average? The top 11 greatest hitting seasons of all time were all at these three hitters. There's not wonder then that these are the altitude three hitters of all time on my list.
Bonds has to be #1 whereas, because his peak was higher than anyone other peak and he did it in a many more competitive era than did Ruth alternatively Williams.
Of course Bonds also has some great career mathematics (maximum apparently as the all time governor in family runs,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but he's also the career leader in walks & escapes scampers built) but it's his peak performance numbers that make him the greatest hitter of all period. He holds the unattached season log for slugging ratio,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], ashore base percent, OPS, OPS+, hikes, & home runs.
It's also worth noting that of these three great hitters, Bonds is the only an who was a great found runner (over 500 career stolen bases) and meantime I did make note that I am not considering ward when compiling this list, I do think it's value pointing out as a curiosity that Bonds is also the only an of the three who was a great defensive player (not counting Babe Ruth's extraordinary pitching skill of way.)
#2 Babe Ruth - If you see at overall career rate stats then Babe Ruth cannot be topped. Ruth is the all time career leader in slugging percentage & OPS. He's second in career on base percentage. But I do think it's not fair to give Ruth the #1 slot only because of these career rate stats. Ruth's career rate stats were not pulled down by early poor seasons favor Bonds' were. Also, as mentioned earlier, the competition during this era was fair not nearly as strong.
Still, you can make a strong argument that Ruth ought be #1. To obtain an motif of how dominant Ruth was, he guide the AL in OPS 13 of 14 seasons from 1918 to 1931. The only annual he didn't lead was his injury abbreviated season of 1925. Bonds streak as a truly dominant hitter was shorter but even more impressive.
#3 Ted Williams - Williams .406 season in 1941 is still the last season anyone has hit over .400,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], over 60 years afterward. Williams is the all time leader in career on base percentage (.482) Ted Williams is second all time in career slugging percentage (later only Ruth.) There are many career rate stats where Williams is only after Ruth and many single season rate stats where Williams is only backward Bonds. But the fact is, in both examples,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], he is behind Ruth & Bonds and while I can still see a nice argument for Williams to be #1,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it seems in the end he loses out to Barry Bonds & Babe Ruth. He's my choice for the 3rd greatest hitter in major league history.
Honorable Mentions: Ty Cobb, Rogers Hornsby, Lou Gehrig,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Mickey Mantle, Jimmie Fox, & the best hitter currently playing: Albert Pujols.
