Vedi Napoli e poi muori....detect because yourself,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]!
Another contrast that is very apparant is the people themselves. Neapolitans are very zealous and expressive people, and can speak like there's no morrow. They speak with their hands a lot and very constantly raise their voices, which can be mistaken for arguing-but once you get to understand the people, you will realise that what seems favor an contention, is commonly just a 'discussion'! (about football, or how to cook a decisive pasta tray). As Naples (and indeed in the rest of Italy as many other countries with warm weather) has an 'outdoor' mores, you will often see many people, teenagers and children just 'hanging around' or having a walk or passeggiata, talking about things. You might see people arguing one minute, and then people singing the next so don't be alarmed!
But one thing that Naples could NEVER be considered is....BORING!
See Naples and dead..!
There is a mentioning in Italy that goes 'vedi Napoli e poi muori'. Translated, this means 'see Naples and die'. The actual averaging of this refers to being overwhelmed by what a beautiful and an amazing city Naples is. (although some may argue that what it really method that Naples is such a dangerous and chaotic city that it ambition annihilate you!)
Yes there are some bad points, but there are considerably many more nice points than wrong. The entire point of Naples is that the 'good' and 'bad' contrast each other to such an utmost it is breathtaking. The long, narrow, dusty, cobbled roads that can be found, especially in the historical centre (centro storico) can be found fraught with cleaning hanging from balconies and washing lines, vespas often beeping their horns and scooting around, street urchins (or 'scugnizzi' as they are cried) playing football in the street, stray dogs or cats rooting around the streets for food, and shady characters selling contraband smokes by the side of the road-but rotate the corner or fair occur to peek ascending from entire the chaos and confusion and you could suddenly find yourself looking by the most beautiful cathedral you have ever seen, or a outlook of the amazing Amalfi Coast and Vesuvious overlooking the sea.
Love it or dislike it, Naples really is a city and a half. It is full of life and the life is full of passion. And yes, you may have listened some negate entities almost Naples, but there are so many more positive entities about Naples, it would be a scandal to make a judgement without ever having visited the area yourself. In my attitude, it is probably the maximum colourful, vibrant and magical city in Europe, if only the World.
As mentioned before, it is the contrast of things which tin periodically be so prodigious. For example shopping in the mall in Via dei Tribunali which is deep in the historical centre, you notification the penury, the confusion, the 'dustiness' of the city. Yet five minutes hike down the road you ascertain yourself in Piazza Plebiscito; 1 of the most smart piazzas I have ever seen. Absolutely huge, with smart structure, from which you can look the sea and 3 of the Italy's most visited passenger destinations; Sorrento, Ischia and the beauteous island of Capri... It is also next to the quite grand Gran Caffe`Gambrinus, a quite outstanding bar and canteen thats been open since the 1860's,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and used to be frequented by Oscar Wilde when he spent time in Naples in 1898 (he once had a vision of a ghost there ). It also marks the starting of the Chiaia zone which is one of the most pleasing districts of central Naples, with designer shops, bars and restaurants.
True, Naples could be thought for chaotic, with cars and vespas racing around the city no disbursing care to vehicle lights -and in some cases,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], principally around the historical center, there are no pavements,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], yet long narrow roads in which to adjust either traffic and human. It could likewise be considered as corrupt alternatively dangerous at some, with gang war at the Camorra (Neapolitan Mafia) still operating here,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and teenage avenue boys that mug people by snatching their bags when scooting quondam above vespas (Not to mention stories circulating such as a female who went into a mart to purchase some clothing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], merely not came out....when the police were alerted by her husband she was apparantly found in the old city mars below the shop being smuggled to god knows where......)
You just never know with Naples. That is the pulchritude and the sorcery of it. Beautiful churches,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], salons and architecture are to be found all around the city, many forgotten about, because there are just simply so many. The city is full of history, culture and craft. I once brought a friend to Naples,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and she said she could 'feel' the history. This was such a large expression, as you really can feel the history; there is just so many art and culture around. Most of the mansions in the centro storico are the original mansions and palazzi which date behind to the 12th or 13th century, with very tall ceilings and original paintwork. Most original palazzi that used to belong to Neapolitan Aristocracy or Royalty are immediately just kin families or bed and breakfasts. There is also an underground city in Naples, (you can go on an organised excursion) and some Greek ruins to be seen in Port'Alba (an district in Naples in centro storico that used to be frequented by poets and students, and is still quite bohemian), which there are still stories of people using this web for smuggling.
