According to Nelson, the studies found that higher levels of three of the PFC chemicals were associated with higher levels of bad cholesterol in a sample of the general U.S. populations and not limited to specific communities. In addition, some other PFC chemicals that haven't been phased out may break down into PFAS and PFOA.
