Aside from Matt Schaub getting hurt at the wrong time,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the Texans have all the pieces on offense and defense to make a deep playoff push this season. NFL players occasionally will petition the NFL to allow them to wear a number that is not in line with the numbering system. Brad Van Pelt who is a linebacker who entered the NFL in 1973 with the New York Giants, wore number 10 during his 11 seasons with the club despite not being covered by the grandfather clause. New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush petitioned the NFL to let him keep the number 5 which he used at USC in 2006 but was later denied.

The whole off-season we all heard nothing about the Texan's offense unless it included the names of Andre Johnson and Matt Schaub. It's great that they have a very successful passing game, but that just rarely puts your team into serious contention during the playoffs.
Last season,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the Saints would win the Superbowl because of not only their passing game but also their running game. During the season the Saints weren't even close to the top of the league in rushing; however, when they needed to run the football they had the ability.

This makes them much more dangerous this season. Having a running game could possibly make this 9 or 10 win team into a 11 or 12 win team. This would put them into the second seed in the AFC. A bye week to start the playoffs will surely help a team making their playoff debut, along with a home game.

But more importantly, he showed the nation that they were capable of running the ball when they can't pass.
The other huge thing that the Texans showed us this week is that they have a very good offensive line. Anytime you run for that many yards and only give up two sacks, against a team that has been elite for the past decade,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you know you have five very good lineman.
The NFL banned substances policy has been acclaimed by some and criticized by others, but the policy is the longest running in American professional sports,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], beginning in 1987. The current policy of the NFL suspends players without pay who test positive for banned substances as it has since 1989 4 games for the first offense eight games for a second offense, and 12 months for a third offense. The suspended games may be either regular season games or playoff games. Bob Levey Each April, each NFL franchise seeks to add new players to its roster through a collegiate draft known as the NFL Annual Player Selection Meeting, which is more commonly known as the NFL Draft.
Today, the Houston Texans played a game against the Colts, in which they planned to use as a stepping stone. They wanted to take the step to become one of the primere teams in the league. The have been an above average team for the past three years, but had been constantly beaten by the Indianapolis Colts.

So what was the most important thing the Texans showed us today? That's right children, they can run the football. Their starting running back, Arian Foster, would run all over the Colts defense. Running for 231 yards and 3 touchdowns, Foster will win the Offensive Player of the Week award.
The Texans would carry on through the game without being down for a second. They would win the game 34-24 at home.
Needless to say,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I could give you hundreds of examples to prove this point true, and needless to say their are exceptions to the rule as well.

The Colts would win Superbowl 41,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], because of their running game, not Peyton Manning. As a team, they would run for 190 yards and a touchdown.

The great passing attacks in the last few years all had a solid running game backing them up at their prime. During the playoffs,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the teams that completely rely on their passing game don't win it all.
